Named after the founder’s favorite watering hole, “The Clyde Common,” located in the Ace Hotel in Portland’s Pearl District, The ACE Clyde is Giant Mouse’s idea of the perfect EDC (Everyday Carry) utility knife. The design draws inspiration from Scandinavia, Japan, and Persia, creating an eclectic mix that works well.
It has an overall length of 6.97” and a more reserved blade length of 3”, with an overall weight of only 2.7oz, indeed making it a perfect EDC blade. The ACE Clyde features a slim, tipped, and slightly upswept blade made of CPM 20CV or ELMAX, both of which are premium super steels. At the same time, the handle features a solid, thick liner lock made of AISI 420 hardened steel with plenty of jimping for added purchase. Although the handle may seem small, its ergonomics make it a pleasant surprise when held. To ensure smooth opening and closing, traditional bronze washers are used.
The design is finished with a brass thumb stud and backspacer that will develop a patina over time, adding character. It also includes a right-side tip-up wire clip and comes with either blue denim, green canvas, or natural canvas micarta scales.
Please note: Natural Micarta will naturally darken in color over time due to use and the oil in your hands. But this process can be sped up by applying a coat of oil to the scales.
